I have had my MacMini for about two years now. Became fed up with the Windows platform a long time ago. This replaced a $3,000 computer and I guarantee it was the best hardware investment I ever made.

This is my first mac and I just have to say wow. I edit a lot of photos and home videos and the preinstalled software makes it a breeze without having to install any third party softwares. The stability is impecable as well as the speed. My husband is a pc system builder and loves it as well.

Apple Mac mini MC239LL/A
A very good system for individuals with basic computing needs and an excellent base station for the family’s iPhones or iPods. If you are passionate about gaming, you probably aren’t looking here in the first place, and should probably be going with a PC. But for basic games this Mac mini does just fine.
+ iLife `09. A very nice Photo/Video/Music package.
+ Wireless, Bluetooth, FireWire800.
+ No monitor, keyboard or mouse is included. You can use what you have, or purchase whatever you want. You are not paying for items you may not need, or may be replacing with something else.
+ The Mac mini doesn’t have the crapware you find on new PCs, just like all Macs.
+ Quiet
- No HDMI output. You can get a Mini Display Port to HDMI Adapter, however the Macs at this time did not transmit audio data along with video from the Mini-DP. So you need to get audio by other means (audio line-out minijack, USB, FireWire, or a wireless method).
- No commercial Blu-ray playback. This is a Mac OS X issue, not just Mac mini. You can play these, however you need to boot into Windows, have the proper PC-only software, and of course a HDMI monitor.
- Power cord is not firmly attached when connected to case. This is probably a bit picky; however when I was connecting a flash drive to a USB port, the little push of the case unplugged the Mac mini. I know the cord was hooked on something, however it does disconnect from the case quite easily. I’ve now connected a USB extension to the case to avoid this problem.
Overall, I am very pleased with the Mac mini.

My Macbook Pro did not care much for the cup of coffee I gave it, so I had to replace it. I looked at getting another MacBook, but really did not like the idea of paying a premium for a portable machine that rarely left my desk. Similarly, an Imac was pretty high priced due to the built in monitor, and a Mac Pro is just plain pretty high priced. I was contemplating building another Windows machine, but I remembered what a pain I’ve had over the years maintaining them while the past 2 years with my MacBook were a joy. Unfortunately, I also thought about the fact that I had to replace my Mac computer with another Mac computer or lose all of my programs and data. (At least without going through hoops.) Fry a Sony, and you can buy any number of Windows computers, fry a Mac and you need a Mac.
I decided on this Mac Mini as the least expensive means of replacing my lost processing power/space. The recovery of my data was incredibly simple, the easiest I’ve done in 30 years, and most of those were not successful. I’m definitely now sticking with with a Mac for life. The time saved in getting going again, less than 12 hours from ordering a replacement and getting it Saturday Overnight delivery, and only taking 30 minutes to do the recovery, in contrast to the days and days I used to spend trying to buy identical HDs for finicky backup programs, and changing all of the device drivers, not to mention activating Windows again through a drone that doesn’t know I bought a new machine, was well worth any price difference with this Apple product, even if it had any competition.
The only problem I have is that the 2 video ports, the mini-DVI and the Display Port, cannot be used at the same time. Nowhere is this mentioned in the sales descriptions. I even purchased the ridiculously priced Apple Display port to VGA adapter to no avail. So, I had to buy a USB to DVI converter, and the quality and speed of the display is just not there. It is maddening trying to view a Photoshop picture on one monitor and all of the tool windows on another low picture quality monitor. If I had known in advance of this limitation I would have taken the time to go to an Apple store to see if it worked OK, and might have ended up with something else. I haven’t had a computer that supported only 1 monitor in over a decade.
But, this is a great little machine, and if you really want something to be portable, even small enough to throw in a safe, this thing is about $1,000 less than a comparably priced MacBook Pro with all the advantages of OSX.

I have been a Mac user since 1986. Mac Plus, Mac IIci, Quadra 610, iMac(bondi blue ), beige G3 as well as many other assorted models including the towers. I have found this machine to be everything I had hoped and more. It is fast, flexible, & works great with my 21.5 inch Samsung 2233SW 21.5-Inch Full HD Widescreen LCD Monitor. Just plugged it in and it was recognized immediately. USB external hard drive- no problem. Wireless logitec mouse and keyboard – no problem. I brought over all my files and software and their have been no issues. I just made sure that all drivers and applications are up to date. I can open as many applications as needed and experience no slow downs. Handles video, music and graphics quickly and their is practically no wait time for web pages to be loaded. I highly recommend this unit.
